Project Overview:
As one of the core developers in a team of four, I led the design and execution of the procedural generation system for a first-of-its-kind VR Infinite Runner game. Our game, geared toward creating an immersive and endless gameplay experience, required players to match their actions with the right color-coded challenges using VR controllers (left/red and right/blue).
Procedural Generation & Difficulty Scaling:
- Pioneered the development of a procedural generation engine, ensuring endlessly varied levels and obstacles to captivate players within the VR environment.
- Factorized and evolved a level difficulty algorithm that intelligently scaled the challenge for the player, adjusting the in-game experience based on performance and progression.
- Conducted comprehensive testing and optimization to eliminate latency and stutter, delivering a seamless and fluid gaming experience free from generation hiccups or disruptions.
- Engineered an objective difficulty rating for different game "chunks," creating a balance between predictability and variation to hold players' interest over extended periods.
Video Production:
- Expanded my skill set into the realm of video production, utilizing Final Cut Pro to craft a trailer for our game.
- Focused on highlighting the dynamic gameplay and innovative features of our VR title, creating an engaging visual narrative that effectively communicates the game's unique selling points to potential players.
Contribution to Team and Project:
- Instrumental in creating a product that pushes the boundaries of VR gaming, contributing to both the technical and promotional aspects of the project.
- Collaborated closely with team members to blend complex technical solutions with user-friendly gameplay, resulting in a distinctive and enjoyable VR experience.
